Assala Beach Cleanup

Volunteer Rangers Beach Cleanup 15th April 2007
Assalah Beach – Dahab

On Sunday the 15th of April a group of volunteers managed to clean about 1 kilometre of beach, starting from the Eel Garden SSDM Shade until the last houses on Assalah Beach.
During the day, starting at 10:00 am until 16:00 pm, 90 flourbags (also known as camelbags) were filled with rubbish such as bottles, cans, plastic bags, cigarette butts, flipflops, needles (!) etc. etc. Large items like car tyres were collected separately.

1 flourbag has a volume of approx 75 litres 90 x 75 x 0.8 = 5,400 litres of rubbish (Each bag was approximately 80% full)
Volunteer Rangers and the National Parks thank all those who took part and helped us to protect the living reef and to make Dahab a cleaner place to live.
